About MGD

The Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls' schools, affectionately called M.G.D. was founded on 4th July, 1943, by Her Highness Maharani Gayatri Deviji.

It was founded with His Highness Sir Sawai Man Singhji of Jaipur as its Patron. The distinguished Patron, Founder, the eminent Members of the Board of Governors, along with the dedication and experience of the founder principal, Miss Lillian G. Lutter. combined to establish this School from very small beginning, to the stature and prestige it commands today as a premier centre of value based education and learning. The School began on the lines of the British Public School Pattern, keeping our own cultural and traditional values intact and important.

In order to mould and equip the students, then drawn from homes steeped in the claustrophobic orthodoxy of the “Purdah Age Aristocracy”, to step out into the mainstream world with confidence, and a will to do their best and face situations brought about by the winds of change that swept across the globe and India, post World War II.

About Girls' Guild

Initiated in 1960, the Old Girls Association was started by Miss K Minakshi. It functioned spasmodically.  In late 80s with Miss Doongaji’s active support – it picked up momentum. Later “The Old Girls’ Association” was re-christened as “MGD Girls’ Guild”. The executive committee was elected. The Principal as defacto President & Jane H.Singh (1955) as Vice President with a team of volunteers. The Guild constitution was drawn up. A quarterly News Letter “Guild today” was launched with Manindra Kapoor(1962) as the editor.
The first Guild Directory was compiled and published in 1993. It was updated in the Diamond Jubilee year 2003.The aim of the Guild is to keep the “MGD family bonding” alive and active. The Guild initiated the felicitation of the re-union of the following batches – Golden 50 yrs, Silver 25 yrs  and recently added the Ruby batch of 40 yrs.

The Constitution of the GUILD is printed in detail in the first Directory compiled in 1993 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee. It has a comprehensive account of the aims of the GUILD & functions of the Committee Members. As Rajmata Sahiba Gayatri Deviji has written in her message,
